"Pressing the Pieces Together"
Bench Press Benefit for Autism

 
 
Event Description:  "Pressing the Pieces Together" is a bench press only contest with the proceeds going to benefit the Get On Track, a new non-profit with the goal of helping off-set the costs of fitness and other services for individuals on the autism spectrum and related developmental disorders.  In addition to entering the contest, we are asking each lifter to set-up an individual fundraising account GiveLively.org with a goal of raising a minimum of $100, with a suggestion of making a goal of $500. We will email instructions once you register for the meet.

Sanction/Rules:  Sanctioned by the APF/AAPF. Check www.worldpowerliftingcongress.com for information and rulebook. For the raw division, only belt and wrist wraps are allowed. One piece lifting suit required for all lifters.
 
 
Weigh-ins: 
  • Friday, April 28  - 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 29 - 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
 
 
Eligibility:  Open to all APF/AAPF members. Lifters must present proof of APF membership at weigh-ins.  Memberships are available at the link below.  NO MEMBERSHIPS WILL BE SOLD ON SITE.
 
 
 
Entry Fee:  The entry fee is $60 for one division. Additional divisions will be charged $30 per division. NO REFUNDS.
 
 
Meet T-Shirts:  Official meet t-shirts are available for pre-order for $20. Note: Only limited numbers of t-shirts will be available on the meet day.
 
 
Deadline:  The entry deadline is April 9. Late entries, if any are accepted, will be charged a $20 late fee. No late entries will be accepted at the weigh-ins or the day of the meet.
 
 
Awards:  Personalized certificates will be given to all lifters. Placements will be determined via weight classes in the Men's and Women's Open Equipped and Raw. Age divisions will be determined via coefficient.  A special award will be given to the lifters that raise the most money for the Get On Track.

 Competitors may have to lift on multiple days if they choose to compete in multiple events and/or divisions.

 

Awards:  Custom Medals will be given to the first three places in all categories. Best Lifters will be awarded in categories based on the content of the entries.

Beginners Powerlifting Training Camp with Eric Stone

Beginners Powerlifting Training Camp
Saturday June 3 & Saturday June 10

Where:  Lombard Strength & Fitness - 1141 S. Main St.  Lombard, IL
 
When:  Saturdays 9:00 to 11:30 am. on 6/3 & 6/10
 
What:  Beginner powerlifters will learn the basics needed for the squat, bench and deadlift needed for powerlifting competitions.  They will teach both the proper form for the "big 3," and will also address what makes each a legal lift in a sanctioned competition.  The sessions will utilize competition equipment, and will teach the participants how to use and set-up on the equipment used in powerlifting meets
 
This 2-week training camp will focus on the rules of the squat and bench on the first Saturday, going over the commands, legal requirements, and how to use competition equipment.  The second Saturday, which will be one week away from the Beginners Powerlifting Meet, review squat and bench, working up to a projected opening attempt, and then will go through the rules / commands for the deadlift, also working up to a projected opening attempt.
 
Who:  Any aspiring powerlifter, or a powerlifter who has completed 2 or less sanctioned meets.
 
Cost:  $125 for the training camp, $200 for the training camp and Beginners Powerlifting Meet--free APF t-shirt if you sign up for both

Time:  8 a.m. start time, will run until approximately 5 p.m.


Who:  Any aspiring or current powerlifter with 2 or less sanctioned meets completed


Description:  Covered will be everything an aspiring or beginning powerlifter needs to know to compete in a sanctioned powerlifting competition. Team Stone includes world-champion powerlifters as well as APF sanctioned powerlifting referees to cover both the technique and strategy of a competing in a powerlifting meet as well as the logistics and rules of a sanctioned contest.

 

Staff will start by explaining day-of logistics of a powerlifting meet, including weigh-ins, scheduling of flights, warm-ups, attempt selection and the flow of a typical meet. The rules, commands, and technique of the squat, bench and deadlift will be explained in a straight forward fashion. From there, each participant work through (3) attempts on each lift in a more informal fashion and pace than in a meet. Each lifter will have a chance to have their technique evaluated by certified judges and coaches. The lifting will take place on competition quality equipment used in many area APF meets (monolift squat racks, competition benches, competition bars).

 

This event will be sanctioned by the American Powerlifting Federation (APF). All lifters must have a one-piece lifting suit for all lifts, and high socks for the deadlift.  Lifters can set IL State Records (if an Illinois resident) and APF/AAPF American Records.


Weigh-ins:  Lifters will need to weigh-in either Friday 6/16 at 10:00 a.m. or 5:00 p.m., or Saturday 6/17 at 7:00 a.m.


Cost:  $75 Entry Fee + APF Membership***

(+ optional APF t-shirt $20).  NO REFUNDS.

 

***All lifters will need to become an APF member in order to participate.  You will need to separately purchase your APF membership on the APF/WPC website:  https://worldpowerliftingcongress.com/wpcmember/ .  All participants will need to show proof of their APF membership prior to weighing in.

The Women’s EmPOWERment Meet is a meet run FOR women, BY women. Thus, this meet will be exclusively staffed by women--referees, scoring table, spotters, etc., and is only open to female competitors. It is, however, open to any female lifter--veteran or novice.

  • Meet will follow all APF rules--all lifters must have a one-piece lifting suit
